• NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
