• No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

    Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

    Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

    Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

    Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
