    [ English ]

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He began playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
