• No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from other people kill his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
