Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
