• NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
