• No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

    Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

    He began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

    He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

    Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
