• NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

    Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.

    Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

    He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.

    Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
