Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
