• No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
