Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
