Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success.
