Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
