Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
