Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
