Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender in the world by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
