Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
