    Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

    He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

    Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

    Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
