Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
