Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
