Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
